Schwartz: Stafford "unlikely'' to play Thursday

The Schwartz has spoken regarding his heroic young quarterback. What was spoken wasn't encouraging.

The News' John Niyo gave us the bad news with his latest Tweet:

Stafford likely out Thurs with sprained AC joint in left shoulder, Schwartz acknowledged. Culpepper will start assuming Stafford can't play.

FYI, new school terminology is AC joint sprain. Old schoolers would call Stafford's injury a separated shoulder...

The AC joint is short for the acromioclavicular joint. Separation of the two bones forming this joint is caused by damage to the ligaments connecting them. It is sometimes also referred to as a shoulder separation injury.

Regarding Stafford's status, Mlive's Killer Kowalski confirms the news on Twitter as well:

Lions' Schwartz said Stafford "unlikely'' to play Thursday but "won't close the door''

Reading between the lines of "Won't close the door", Stafford will play only if he can head fake the training staff again. They'll probably have to hide the kid's helmet.

As for Culpepper starting on Thrusday, TWFE's Big Al says:

GOD DAMMIT!

This does not bode well for Turkey Day, gang. Does not bode well at all.
