Tonight, there's no snarky commentary. No mean spirited Facepalm Awards. No bitching and moaning over another ugly, disappointing, curse filled, Sunday afternoon, a day ruined thanks to the Detroit Lions stumbling and bumbling their way through another lopsided loss.

Why?

The Detroit Lions...won.

Lions beat Redskins 9-27-09

A sight for sore eyes. The Lions celebrating at the final gun...

The Lions are 1-2 after a well-played, exciting win over the spiraling into oblivion Washington Redskins. Just read a few Redskins sites and Washington newspapers if you think otherwise about the team the Lions out and out beat. 'Skins fans and media are on the verge of apoplexy over this loss.

Better them than us, for once.

I'm sure I'll be back to my usual piss and vinegar filled self tomorrow, as one win does not fix a lifetime of losing. This is not a good football team...not yet, anyway. Improving, yes. Good, no.

Honestly, the Lions should have won by a couple of touchdowns. They were that much better than the God awful Redskins, yet let them back in the game, making it tighter than it should have been in the final minutes. But that sort of analysis is best suited for another day.

So I'm not going to go into the good or the bad of today's game. I'm going to savor a Lions victory, the first since December 2007.

For one night, after one win, to end a nightmarish losing streak, it's nice to say...

Go Lions!
