The headline is no longer a "what if" scenario.

I've been to junior high football games with more fans in attendance.

These shots are proof positive NFL fans despise exhibition games, want nothing to do with them, and the league plays at least two exhibitions too many. Though I doubt the NFL actually cares, as a great many of those empty seats masquerading as Lions fans were paid for as part of a season ticket package.

"You want those tickets for eight regular season home games? Sure, no problem. You can have them...but only if you also pay us face price for two useless, boring exhibition games. What a deal, right?"

NFL season ticket buyers having to pay for two exhibition games is nothing less than legalized extortion.
